SUBJECT CATEGORY: Privacy Act of 1974, as Amended; Addition of a New System of Records
DOCUMENT SUMMARY: The Department of the Interior (DOI), Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) is issuing public notice of its intent to add a new Privacy Act system of records to its inventory of records systems subject to the Privacy Act of 1974 (5 U.S.C. 552a). This action is necessary to meet the requirements of the Privacy Act to publish in the Federal Register notice of the existence and character of records systems maintained by the agency (5 U.S.C. 552a(e)(4)). The new Privacy Act system of records is entitled Interior, BIA29: ``Fee to Trust Tracking System'' (FTTS).
SUMMARY: Privacy Act; Systems of Records,
FTTS was developed for the BIA to track applications for
conversions of land from fee ownership into trust status for Tribes and
individual Indians. FTTS is replacing an existing legacy system, Fee to
Trust (FTT), that does not collect sufficient information to properly track applications.
