  <title><![CDATA[  Airworthiness Directives; Boeing Model 727 Series Airplanes]]></title>

  <description><![CDATA[ This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD), 
applicable to all Boeing Model 727 series airplanes, that requires 
repetitive inspections for cracking of the upper chord of the rear spar 
of the wing, and corrective action, if necessary. This action is 
necessary to find and fix such cracking, which could result in fuel 
leaking through the cracks, reduced structural integrity of the wing, 
and separation of the wing from the airplane. This action is intended 
to address the identified unsafe condition.

  <title><![CDATA[  Special Conditions: Airbus Industrie, Model A340-500 and -600  Airplanes; Sudden Engine Stoppage]]></title>

  <description><![CDATA[ This notice proposes special conditions for Airbus Industries 
Model A340500 and 600 airplanes. These airplanes will have a novel or 
unusual design feature when compared to the state of technology 
envisioned in the airworthiness standards for transport category 
airplanes, associated with engine size and torque load, which affects 
sudden engine stoppage. The applicable airworthiness regulations do not 
contain adequate or appropriate safety standards for this design 
feature. These proposed special conditions contain the additional 
safety standards that the Administrator considers necessary to 
establish a level of safety equivalent to that established by the 
existing airworthiness standards.

policy on flammability testing of materials used in small airplanes. 
This notice advises the public, especially manufacturers of normal, 
utility, and acrobatic category airplanes, and commuter category  airplanes used in<br/> [[Page 8576]]<br/>
nonscheduled service and their suppliers, that the FAA has adopted a 
new policy concerning flammability testing. This notice is necessary to 
advise the public of methods to obtain copies of this final FAA policy.
