  <description><![CDATA[ We (U.S. Geological Survey) have sent an Information 
Collection Request (ICR) to OMB for review and approval. The ICR, which 
is summarized below, describes the nature of the collection and the 
estimated burden and cost. This ICR is scheduled to expire on October 
31, 2008. We may not conduct or sponsor and a person is not required to 
respond to a collection of information unless it displays a currently 
valid OMB control number. However, under OMB regulations, we may 
continue to conduct or sponsor this information collection while it is 
pending at OMB.

  <title><![CDATA[  Agency Information Collection: Comment Request ]]></title>

  <description><![CDATA[ To comply with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (PRA), we 
are notifying the public that we will submit to OMB a new information 
collection request (ICR) for approval of the paperwork requirements for 
the National Institutes for Water Resources (NIWR)USGS competitive 
grant program conducted in conjunction with the State Water Resources 
Research Institutes. The NIWR cooperates with the USGS in establishing 
total programmatic direction, reporting on the activities of the 
Institutes, coordinating and facilitating regional research and 
information and technology transfer, and in operating the NIWRUSGS 
Student Internship Program. Furthermore, an annual progress and final 
technical report for all projects is required at the end of the project  period.</p><p>    This notice provides the public an opportunity to comment on the 
paperwork burden of this collection.

  <title><![CDATA[  Announcement of National Geospatial Advisory Committee Meeting]]></title>

  <description><![CDATA[ The National Geospatial Advisory Committee (NGAC) will meet on 
October 1516, 2008 at the National Conservation Training Center, 698 
Conservation Way, Shepherdstown, WV 25443. The meeting will be held in  Room <greeki>161 Instructional West.</p><p>    The NGAC, which is composed of representatives from governmental, 
private sector, nonprofit, and academic organizations, has been 
established to advise the Chair of the Federal Geographic Data 
Committee on management of Federal geospatial programs, the development 
of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure, and the implementation of 
Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A16. Topics to be  addressed at the meeting include:<br/> Changing Landscape White Paper.<br/> Geospatial Transition Paper.<br/> National Land Parcel Data Study.<br/> Imagery for the Nation Update.<br/> Geospatial Line of Business Update.</p>

Furthermore, a final technical report for all projects is required at 
the end of the project period. Narrative and report guidance is

  <title><![CDATA[  National Earthquake Prediction Evaluation Council ]]></title>

  <description><![CDATA[ Pursuant to Public Law 96-472, the National Earthquake 
Prediction Evaluation Council (NEPEC) will hold a meeting. The meeting 
location is the Hilton Palm Springs Resort, 400 East Tahquitz Canyon 
Way, Palm Springs, California 922626605. The Committee is comprised of 
members from academia and the Federal Government. The Committee shall 
advise the Director of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on proposed 
earthquake predictions, on the completeness and scientific validity of 
the available data related to earthquake predictions, and on related  matters as assigned by the Director.</p><p>    The Council will receive a briefing on the Colaboratory for Study 
of Earthquake Predictability (CSEP), a report on a workshop on Episodic 
Tremor and Slip held last winter, and short reports and updates on 
several other topics. The Council will also discuss the potential need 
to provide advisory reports on short notice if natural observations 
suggest an increased earthquake risk, and the form and content of such

  <description><![CDATA[ Pursuant to Public Law 106-503, the Scientific Earthquake 
Studies Advisory Committee (SESAC) will hold its 18th meeting. The 
meeting location is the U.S. Geological Survey, 345 Middlefield Road, 
Menlo Park, California 94025. The Committee is comprised of members 
from academia, industry, and State government. The Committee shall 
advise the Director of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on matters 
relating to the USGS's participation in the National Earthquake Hazards  Reduction Program.</p><p>    The Committee will receive updates and provide guidance on 
Earthquake Hazards Program activities and the status of teams supported  by the Program.</p><p>    Meetings of the Scientific Earthquake Studies Advisory Committee 
are open to the public.

3.4 (SAP 3.4): Abrupt Climate Change, will meet at the Memorial Union 
Building, Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon on June 19, 2008  between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.</p><p>    Agenda: The goal of the meeting is to discuss the comments received 
during the public comment period for SAP 3.4, and to propose responses

  <title><![CDATA[  Notice of an Open Meeting of the Advisory Committee on Water  Information (ACWI)]]></title>

Quality Monitoring Network for U.S. Coastal Waters and their 
Tributaries and the first report from the Subcommittee on Ground Water

  <title><![CDATA[  Scientific Earthquake Studies Advisory Committee ]]></title>

  <description><![CDATA[ Pursuant to Public Law 106-503, the Scientific Earthquake 
Studies Advisory Committee (SESAC) will hold its 17th meeting. The 
meeting location is the U.S. Geological Survey, John Wesley Powell 
National Center, Room 1B215, 12201 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston, 
Virginia 20192. The Committee is comprised of members from academia, 
industry, and State government. The Committee shall advise the Director 
of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) on matters relating to the USGS's 
participation in the National Earthquake hazards Reduction Program.
</p><p>    The Committee will receive updates and provide guidance on 
Earthquake Hazards Program activities and the status of teams supported  by the Program.</p><p>    Meetings of the Scientific Earthquake Studies Advisory Committee 
are open to the public.

hold its FACA peer review meeting on January 2830, 2008 in Denver, CO.

review of SAP 4.2. The review committee will meet to discuss the first 
draft of SAP 4.2 and provide guiding comments for the completion of the 
product.
