This document corrects a February 24, 2005, final rule that implements 2005 and 2006 harvest specifications, reserves, and apportionments thereof, Pacific halibut prohibited species catch (PSC) limits, and associated management measures for the groundfish fishery of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA). NMFS is opening directed fishing for species that comprise the deepwater species fishery by vessels using trawl gear in the Gulf of Alaska (GOA). This action is necessary to allow the deepwater species fisheries by vessels using trawl gear in the GOA to resume.

3  RULES: Northern rockfish,

NMFS is prohibiting directed fishing for northern rockfish in the Central Regulatory Area of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA). This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 2005 total allowable catch (TAC) of northern rockfish in the Central Regulatory Area of the GOA.

NMFS is prohibiting directed fishing for pelagic shelf rockfish in the West Yakutat District of the Gulf of Alaska (GOA). This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 2005 total allowable catch (TAC) of pelagic shelf rockfish in the West Yakutat District of the GOA.

NMFS is prohibiting directed fishing for Atka mackerel with gears other than jig in the Eastern Aleutian District (area 541) and the Bering Sea subarea of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI). This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the interim 2005 total allowable catch (TAC) of Atka mackerel in these areas. NMFS is

NMFS is prohibiting directed fishing for Pacific cod by catcher/processor vessels using hookandline gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI). This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 2005 total allowable catch (TAC) of Pacific cod specified for catcher/processor vessels using hookandline gear in the BSAI.

NMFS is reallocating the projected unused amount of Pacific cod from vessels using trawl and jig gear to vessels using hookand line and pot gear in the BSAI. These actions are necessary to allow the 2005 total allowable catch (TAC) of Pacific cod to be harvested.

NMFS is closing directed fishing for Pacific cod by vessels using trawl gear in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI). This action is necessary to prevent exceeding the 2005 halibut bycatch allowance specified for the trawl Pacific cod fishery category in the BSAI.
